DeKalb Schools: Snow forces early dismissals of students, staff

DeKalb County Schools announced just after noon Friday that students and staff would be released early due to falling snow, which forecasts suggest will only get worse.

The district said in a statement that elementary school students were released a noon, with high school students released by 12:45 p.m., middle schoolers by 1:30 and staff by 2. Nearby Cobb County Schools decided early Friday to release students early due to weather. Students in Fulton County will go home early, too, officials announced before noon.

Students in Paulding County are expected to be sent home early, too. Cherokee County Schools, as well as Marietta City Schools have canceled after-school activities.

Delta and Southwest Airlines announced dozens of flight cancellations, with Delta saying change fees would be waived.
