The Cobb County School District has announced three public hearings on the millage rate for the coming year.

The rate — 18.9 mills — will stay the same. Taxpayers could see a tax increase if their home value was increased by the Cobb County Board of Tax Assessors.

Meetings will be held at 8:30 a.m. and 6 p.m. on July 12 and again on July 20 at 8:30 a.m., followed by a meeting at 9 where the school board will approve the rate. All meetings will take place in the Central Office boardroom, 514 Glover St. in Marietta.

Chief Financial Officer Brad Johnson said the district has kept its millage rate the same since 2007, and chose to make internal cuts when economic conditions impacted tax collections.
