If you haven't been outside, Channel 2 meteorologist Brian Monahan's got four words for you: "hazy and heating up."

Metro Atlanta is on its way to a 87-degree high this afternoon, with a few clouds punctuating the skies and a slight chance of showers and thunderstorms Saturday evening especially toward northeast Georgia.

Today’s expected high is well above the usual average temperature this time of year of 78 degrees. It’s likely to continue Sunday for Mother’s Day, with a 20 percent chance of showers late that day. Monahan said things may cool down next week, although they may first get wet with a greater chance Monday of rain showers.
