A former school bus driver and a college music instructor were both arraigned Wednesday following their indictments earlier this month on child porn charges, according to the U.S. Attorney’s office.

The cases are separate, but similar for both Stanley Keith Johnson, 57, of Mableton, and Jerry Michael Lanier, 51, of Smyrna, both accused of ordering and receiving the illicit videos from a foreign company. The two were indicted by a federal grand jury Jan. 8.

“Child pornography preys on the most innocent and vulnerable members of society,” U.S. Attorney Sally Quillian Yates said in an emailed statement. “These men are charged with participating in the victimization of children when they received child pornography through the mail. These cases reflect our commitment to end this horrendous cycle of victimization.”

From November 2010 to April 2011, Johnson allegedly placed orders with a foreign company for approximately 180 DVDs containing videos of nude boys between the ages of 8 and 14 and received the videos in the mail, according to information presented in court. A search warrant executed in December revealed that Johnson possessed child pornography on his computer and had produced images of child pornography dating back to 2004, Yates said.

Johnson was working as a bus driver for Cobb County Public Schools during all the times listed in the indictment.

Between January 2010 and January 2011, Lanier also allegedly placed orders with the same foreign company, ordering and receiving approximately 19 DVDs containing child pornography, according to information stated in court. A search warrant executed at Lanier’s home in December 2011 revealed that he had numerous videos of child pornography on his computer, according to investigators. Lanier was working as a music instructor at the University of West Georgia when the search warrant was executed.

The U.S. Postal Service, GBI and local police departments have assisted in the investigation, which has led to numerous suspects who allegedly ordered DVDs from the same company.
