While most of the hotels throughout Georgia are booked, there is another housing option for Hurricane Matthew evacuees. And, it's free.

AirBnB's Disaster Response tool now covers Georgia, along with South Carolina and Florida, providing a way for AirBnB hosts to offer free houses for people affected by the hurricane.

"We encourage hosts in safe, inland areas with spare rooms to list your homes and help those affected," the company said from one of their Twitter accounts.

AirBnB offers another option for housing during the hurricane, following the Georgia Department of Economic Development's announcement that hotels across the state are booked.

“We don’t know exactly what hotels might have availability, but it’s very scarce across the state," Emily Murray, communications specialist, said. “We’re now telling everyone we’re at capacity.”

Murray said people affected by the storm can call 1-800-847-4842 to check hotel availability, but said they are currently recommending Georgia shelters, Georgia State Parks and AirBnB as alternative options.

According to the AirBnB's website, thousands of hosts have housed evacuees in emergency situations since they began using the service following Hurricane Sandy in 2012.

"Hurricane Sandy hit New York in 2012, and Airbnb hosts immediately began helping in the way they knew best–by providing a home and warm welcome for their neighbors in need," it reads. "Inspired by their generosity, Airbnb created the Disaster Response service, to make it easier for community members all over the world to provide emergency accommodations in times of crisis."

Evacuees can visit airbnb.com/disaster/georgia to see what rooms and homes are available to them. Hosts in local cities such as Atlanta, Lilburn and Roswell have listed their rooms for zero dollars.

AirBnB is waiving service fees for anyone who is affected by the hurricane and has a check in date between Oct. 5 and 13.

AirBnB hosts looking to offer free housing for evacuees can do so by visiting airbnb.com/disaster/georgia, too.
