After a weekend of record flooding in South Carolina, one group is working to reunite lost pets with their owners.
Over two feet of rain has fallen in South Carolina since Friday, shaking things up in the state and causing lots of chaos, and many cats and dogs have gone missing as conditions have worsened.
Lost & Found Pets of South Carolina has been uploading pictures of pets that owners have lost and animals that have been found in streets and other places.
Eric Stamey, one of the Facebook page administrators, told Mashable:
“As the flood waters recede, we see that animals have discovered outside cats that have disappeared and dogs that have been scared off from their territories. However, as the hours go by, the rivers will begin to swell now as the flood waters run from the mountains to the midlands and to the coast; we expect that more pets will be affected as these conditions begin to worsen in a new, horrible way.”
The page also posts success stories of pets being reunited with their owners and shares posts from Chasing Tails Pet Control, another group working to return lost pets with their owners .
Other encouraging posts also appear on the page, including offers to care for pets until owners are found.
