Should Atlanta open it's door to the growing number of Syrian refugees needing shelter? One Comedy Central show certainly thinks so.

During a segment on the growing number of U.S. governors refusing entry to refugees on Wednesday, "The Daily Show With Trevor Noah" singled out Alabama's refusal to allow resettlement.

The satirical show's correspondent Roy Wood Jr, a Birmingham native, suggested that Alabama was merely getting the state ready before admitting refugees.

After a tongue-in-cheek comparison to the racism of the state and the perfect barbecue, he said of his Alabama neighbors:

Look, I'm from Birmingham. Alabama is full of good people who want to live in a place with solid values, where neighbors treat each other right. That's why they move to Atlanta.

He then suggested that Atlanta would be a better destination, saying:

That's a great idea. That's where the refugees should go! There's strip clubs, football, the Syrians would have a blast!

Gov. Nathan Deal joined a movement with other governors earlier this week by taking a stand against federal efforts to relocate Syrian refugees within the county.

The concerns about the Obama administration's resettlement program come in the wake of last weekend's deadly terrorist attacks in Paris that have since killed over 130 people.

Atlanta Mayor Kasim Reed said state leaders should not close off Georgia to Syrian refugees.

"I do believe that you have to acknowledge genuine fear and concern from the public," the mayor said. "I don't believe that means you completely close all borders."

In an unscientific poll hosted by the Atlanta Journal-Constitution on Twitter, over half of those surveyed disagree with Gov. Deal's stance on refusing to accept Syrian refugees.
