A man was charged with murder after he choked a woman to death Sunday evening in Clayton County, police said.

Authorities were called to Sutter Lake apartments in the 8100 block of Webb Road about 9 p.m. regarding a domestic dispute involving a death, police spokeswoman Sgt. Julia Isaac said. While officers were en route, Isaac said 20-year-old Kathan Guzman told 911 dispatchers that he killed 19-year-old Delila Grayson by choking her.

Grayson was found dead in the bathroom by officers, Isaac added.

The investigation led authorities to determine that a dispute between Guzman and Grayson led to the deadly incident. Isaac said she could not elaborate on the full extent of their relationship.

Guzman, who remains in the Clayton County Jail, is charged with malice murder and aggravated assault by strangulation.

Just hours prior, Clayton police officers were investigating another fatal incident in the 600 block of Oakville Trail. Authorities said they found one person shot at the scene and learned that another was taken to the hospital prior to police arriving, but later died.

Investigators believe an argument broke out just before that shooting. The suspect is unknown and no other details were released.
