A 4-year-old boy jumped out of a moving car after a carjacker hopped into the driver's seat and took off, according to Stockton police.
Police said the boy’s mother had left the car running while she ran inside a home to say goodbye to family members when the unknown man got into her Honda Civic and began driving away.
As the car neared the end of the block, the little boy jumped out and the carjacker kept going. He was not apprehended.
The child suffered cuts and scrapes but was otherwise unhurt.
When the boy's mother asked him why he jumped out, he reportedly said, "Because he wasn't you, Mommy."
