The sheriff’s office launched an investigation into the teenager after a classmate at North Hall Middle School alerted a parent.

A 13-year-old Hall County student was arrested Thursday after threatening to “shoot up” his middle school, authorities said.

The sheriff’s office launched an investigation into the teenager after a classmate at North Hall Middle School went home Tuesday afternoon and told their parent that the boy intended to bring a bomb to school the next day, deputies said.

Investigators went to the teen’s home and got permission to search it, but found no evidence of any explosives or other weapons inside, the Hall County Sheriff’s Office said in a news release.

After investigating, detectives determined the teen never mentioned a bomb, “but had verbally threatened to shoot up the school,” authorities said.
