Less than two weeks after a man and his wife were arrested when authorities found 50,000 fentanyl pills and 14 grams of heroin in their possession, the man’s mother was arrested on drug trafficking charges.
Donna Brown, 52, of Acworth, is facing nine charges after authorities accused her of being involved in a criminal drug trafficking enterprise and trying to hide evidence of the business.
Cherokee County spokesman Commander Phil Price said investigators followed leads that Brown tried to hide evidence of the enterprise by moving it to storage facilities, including a house in Hayesville, N.C., that was in her name.
Cherokee Multi-Agency Narcotics Squad (CMANS) agents and deputies from Clay County in North Carolina executed a search warrant at the home and found items tied to the proceeds of the business, Price said.
Brown was arrested in Calhoun on Thursday. The next day, CMANS officials and members of the Haralson/Paulding Drug Task Force executed a second search warrant, this time at a storage facility rented in Brown’s name in Paulding County.
There, investigators found a “cache of weapons,” authorities said.

“Agents seized over 20 handguns and long guns with a variety of exotic accessories. Two bump stocks were also located inside the unit,” Price said.
The weapons are believed to be owned by Brown’s son, Fredrick Michelsen, Price said. Michelsen, 35, and his wife Elizabeth Michelsen, 28, were arrested on drug trafficking charges March 6 after authorities discovered heroin, a pound of marijuana, an ounce of cocaine and 50,000 pills believed to contain fentanyl in their possession, the Cherokee sheriff’s office said.

Michelsen and his wife were apprehended after leaving their Reed Lane home, sheriff’s office spokesman Jay Baker said at the time. Police said Frederick Michelsen had felony arrest warrants in four jurisdictions. After being stopped by narcotics agents, the man ran from police but was quickly caught, Baker said.
Agents searched the couple’s home as well as two storage facilities, where they found the illegal drugs and more than 30 pounds of fake tablets packaged in vacuum-sealed bags, Baker said.
Frederick Michelsen is charged with trafficking heroin, trafficking fentanyl, possession of THC with intent to distribute, possession of cocaine, possession of Xanax, felony marijuana possession, possession of dronabinol liquid, possession of LSD, possession of marijuana with intent to distribute, obstruction of an officer and escape, Baker said.
Elizabeth Michelsen is charged with trafficking heroin, trafficking fentanyl, possession of THC with intent to distribute, possession of THC wax, possession of Xanax, felony marijuana possession, possession of dronabinol liquid, possession of LSD, possession of cocaine and possession of a Schedule 1 drug.
Brown is charged with trafficking heroin, trafficking fentanyl, possession of THC with intent to distribute, possession of Xanax with intent to distribute, possession of marijuana with intent to distribute, possession of dronabinol liquid, possession of cocaine with intent to distribute and possession of LSD.
All three are in the Cherokee jail without bond.
