A drunk driver hit a patrol car while Johns Creek police officers were arresting another person accused of DUI early Sunday, police said.

Officers stopped a Honda Accord that was speeding on State Bridge Road near St. Georgen Commons. Police later determined the driver, Chelsea Fletcher, was driving under the influence, Johns Creek police said in an incident report.

Fletcher admitted to having two glasses of wine at a baby shower, according to the incident report. She was arrested and moved to the backseat of a patrol car.

“At that time,” police said, “another vehicle driving on State Bridge Road struck the rear end of one of the patrol cars. The impact caused that police car to strike the second police car where the officer and DUI suspect were located.”

The officer and Fletcher were taken to Emory Johns Creek Hospital with minor injuries.

The second driver was arrested and faces charges of driving under the influence.
