Rapper Scarface was released from the Fulton County jail Friday, nearly a week after his arrest in Atlanta on child support charges.
The rapper, whose given name is Brad Terrance Jordan, was arrested Oct. 9 at the Boisfeuillet Jones Atlanta Civic Center, where he was given the prestigious “I Am Hip Hop” honor during the taping of the BET Hip Hop Awards. Jordan was booked on child support-contempt charges and bond was set at an eye-popping $482,190.50 — a number that, in child support cases, generally coincides with the amount owed.
Ann T. Shafer, an attorney representing the plaintiff in the child support case, said Jordan’s release was the result of negotiations with his lawyer. They agreed that Jordan would pay “a good portion” of the missed payments he owed and remain current with future obligations, Shafer said in an email.
“My client received a lump sum amount and we agreed to release Mr. Jordan from the Fulton County Jail, with the remainder of his obligation secured,” Shafer wrote. “It was a great relief to my client after all these years of raising her beautiful child alone.”
The child support case tied to Jordan’s arrest dates back to 2002, records showed.
Jordan, 44, is a Houston-based performer who first gained fame in the late 1980s as part of the group Geto Boys.
