Police are searching for a getaway driver and a vehicle tied to an armed robbery at a northeast Atlanta apartment complex earlier this month.

About 7:45 a.m. on Dec. 1, officers arrived at the Camden Vantage apartments off Jackson Street, where a woman said she had been robbed at gunpoint, according to an Atlanta police incident report.

The woman told officers she had parked on the third floor of one of the apartment complex’s parking decks, which is near her apartment, the report said. She gathered a tote bag full of furs and clothing in addition to her purse and got out of her car.

Before she could reach the deck’s card access door, a man wearing a black hoodie and a gray mask approached her from behind and said, “Give me the bag. I don’t want to hurt you,” the report said. Once the woman saw the handgun, she handed the man her tote bag.

He then demanded her purse, the report said. The woman told him, “No! I can’t give you this bag,” before throwing $100 in one-dollar bills in the air and running away.

The man began to pick up the money, while the woman spotted a resident’s vehicle driving through the parking garage, the report said. She asked the resident for help and got into the car with her.

The two watched the robber finish picking up the cash and “calmly walk” out of the parking garage “as if nothing just happened,” the report said.

The woman told the resident she would run up to her apartment and grab her handgun, which she did, according to the report. When the woman returned, the resident was gone. The woman wasn’t able to find the suspect and had another resident call 911.

On Tuesday, police released surveillance video that shows who investigators believe is a getaway driver for the robber. The video also shows a light blue SUV. Its make and model are not clearly seen in the video.
