A Florida man was arrested on Tuesday after police said he reported his car stolen, then -- when deputies found it on fire in the woods -- admitted to burning it so that he could get a new one.
Finis Ray Jordan, 76, reported his 2015 Chrysler 200 stolen to North Port Police on Saturday. The car was found burned in the woods by the Charlotte County Sheriff's Office later the same day, the Sarasota Herald-Tribune reports. North Port Police were notified and Jordan began to change his account of the incident.
According to WTSP, Jordan changed his story multiple times and then admitted to burning the car because "he didn't like (it) anymore" and he wanted to collect the insurance money to purchase a new one. Jordan was arrested and charged with arson, burn with intent to defraud an insurer, and making a false report.
