A 3-time felon has been sentenced to life in prison for sexually assaulting his ex-fiancee's 12-year-old daughter, authorities said.

In a negotiated deal, Shalin Ren Payne, 30, pleaded guilty Wednesday to rape, aggravated child molestation, aggravated sexual battery, molestation, first degree child cruelty, sexual exploitation of a child and aggravated assault, Coweta County Assistant District Attorney Herb Cranford told The Atlanta Journal-Constitution.

Payne, who was on parole for a burglary conviction when the assault occurred in October 2015, will be eligible for parole in 30 years.

Prosecutors were prepared to go to trial but accepted the plea deal to avoid putting the victim on the witness stand, Cranford said.

Payne chased the girl in her Sharpsburg home, threw her to the floor and attacked her with her 4-year-old brother nearby, authorities said.

When the girl’s mother returned home, Payne was on top of the child, officials said. The girl’s mother hit him with some type of bowl. Payne punched the girl’s mother and ran outside wearing nothing but a T-shirt, authorities said.

It did not take deputies long to find him. His face is covered in tattoos, his booking mugshot showed.

According to the Georgia Department of Corrections, Payne served two years in prison for the burglary conviction. He also had two other stints in prison for convictions that included aggravated assault, burglary and theft, records showed.
