A 26-year-old man charged with aggravated child molestation, child molestation and sodomy in Murray County faces 53 new counts of child pornography, the Dalton Daily Citizen reported.

Stephen Andrew Hayes of Chatsworth is charged in connection with multiple victims, Murray County Sheriff’s Office Detective Brett Morrison told the newspaper Thursday.

“When we arrested him (in May), we seized his computer and phone,” Morrison said. “They were searched and found to be in possession of 53 different images of child pornography.”

Morrison said there were a wide range of pictures of both boys and girls.

The National Center for Missing and Exploited Children identified the children in the photos.

“They have a database of all those (pictures) that have been identified, so these are in the database,” Morrison said. “These are known victims’ images that have already been identified.”

Hayes faces charges in Tennessee, Alabama and Georgia for sexual crimes that occurred over several years.

He was expected to have a first-appearance hearing on the new charges Friday afternoon.
