A Sandy Springs man who was arrested and charged with DUI in Alpharetta had his 9-year-old daughter in the car with him, according to a police report.

Christopher Bowers failed to turn on a green light on Westside Parkway at Haynes Bridge Road on Friday night.

An Alpharetta police officer was behind him at the light and watched as Bowers pulled out in front of traffic in his Toyota Avalon, nearly causing a collision.

When the officer pulled him over, he smelled like alcohol and had bloodshot eyes, the report said. Bowers said he’d consumed one beer.

When the 34-year-old failed a field sobriety test, officers placed him under arrest, called a family member to pick up the 9-year-old and impounded his car.

Bowers was booked into the Alpharetta jail on charges of endangering the life of a child, DUI, impeding traffic and failure to change the address on his driver’s license.

He was released on $4,000 bond.
