Smyrna police arrested two people and are searching for eight others accused of stealing a Jeep with a baby inside.

The owner of the SUV was pumping gas Tuesday at a QuikTrip gas station on the East-West Connector and South Cobb Drive when someone jumped in the Jeep and drove off with the baby in the backseat, according to Channel 2 Action News.

Police said the person driving crashed the SUV into a house, and the child was found unharmed.

A patrol officer spotted the Jeep and got behind it, and shortly after the Jeep led officers on a chase, police told Channel 2.

It later crashed into resident Angela Jackson’s house on Cherokee Trail.

“It just sounded like someone had tried to kick the door in,” Jackson told Channel 2. “And that’s when we realized that it was a car out here.”

Multiple people jumped out of the Jeep and a second stolen car trailing behind it. One of the two people arrested was a juvenile, Channel 2 reported.
