Couple shot outside their Atlanta home in possible road rage incident

The shooting happened early Wednesday morning at their northwest Atlanta home.

A couple was shot outside their northwest Atlanta home Wednesday morning in what investigators believe was a case of road rage.

The man and woman were pulling into their driveway in the 600 block of Commercial Avenue when another vehicle pulled in front of theirs shortly after 1 a.m., according to an incident report obtained by AJC.com.

The man told police he heard multiple gunshots before the other vehicle sped away. He then realized both he and his fiancée were shot.

“We had a white four-door sedan that pulled in front of the victim’s vehicle and opened fire, shooting at least four times,” Capt. Furdge Turner told Channel 2 Action News from the scene.

The woman was shot multiple times in the ribs and the leg and was rushed into surgery at Grady Memorial Hospital. The man was shot in the shoulder and also taken to Grady.

He was expected to be treated and released from the hospital, according to the report.

The man told police they were in the process of moving into the neighborhood and were making their last trip of the night from their home in Winder. His fiancée was attempting to back into the driveway when they felt a “bump,” according to the report.

That’s when he said they noticed the white sedan “speed past them” and come to a stop up the street.

Investigators believe the shooter “became upset with the victims because they blocked the roadway and unfortunately opened fire unprovoked,” Turner told Channel 2.

The white sedan has not been located.
