A North Hall Middle School student was arrested Wednesday for allegedly creating a bomb threat that led to the school’s evacuation, Hall County school Superintendent Will Schofield said.
“The Hall County School District takes reports of potential harm directed toward our students very seriously and those responsible for creating disruptions to our schools will be held accountable for their actions,” Schofield said.
The middle school students were evacuated around 2:30 p.m. after a threat was found on the bathroom wall, a Hall County Schools official said. Students were moved to the football stadium at adjoining North Hall High School.
Police searched the middle school for any possible threat, but none was found. There were no reports of injuries.
Students were dismissed from the high school as police continued their search, school officials said. No other details were released.
It was the third reported incident involving Georgia schools Wednesday.
Earlier, Jackson County Comprehensive High School was evacuated after a 911 operator got a call about an active shooter, which was later determined to be a hoax. A 16-year-old girl was arrested.
Later, Eddie White Academy in Clayton County was placed on lockdown after a man barricaded himself in a nearby house while authorities were trying to serve a warrant. The lockdown was lifted about 2 p.m. and the man was placed in custody.
