A baseball facility used by children with special needs in Douglas County was vandalized with spray-painted graffiti that included racial slurs and foul language.
Beulah Ruritan Park along McKown Road has been the home for the Douglas County Challengers for years, but coach Philip Troglin told Channel 2 Action News that vandals have hit the park several times.
On the most recent spree, he said racial slurs, marks of “666” and profane language were spray-painted on a small concession stand behind home plate. He’s asking for people to assist the team paint over the graffiti March 23.
Michele Morgan, whose son is on the team, said the kids love the team, and it’s something they can’t wait to participate in each year.
“I don’t care if they’re in a wheelchair. I don’t care what their disability is. They’re amazing,” she told Channel 2. “(The team) takes time to make them feel important.”

The first game of the year is scheduled to start in April, which is why Troglin wants the graffiti cleaned up by the end of the month, Channel 2 reported.
The field is privately owned, and the incident was not reported to the sheriff’s office. Troglin said the concession stand has been broken into a number of times over the past few years, and no one was ever arrested, so he didn’t see a point in reporting it this time.
