A baby was injured when someone shot into a vehicle in Union City on Sunday night and sent glass flying.
The child did not appear to be hit by the gunfire, just glass shrapnel, according to Union City police. Both the baby and a man were taken to hospitals when officers arrived on scene about 6:45 p.m.
Their injuries are not considered life-threatening, police spokesman Officer Jerome Turner said.
Investigators do not know where the gunfire erupted, he said. The victims were found in the area of a Motel 6 on Feldwood and Flat Shoals roads.
Investigators have identified a man they believe was there during the shooting, and he was located in Atlanta by police in that city. It’s unknown if the man, whose name was not released, is a suspect.
“This case is active as investigators are interviewing the victims and any witnesses as to the location of the actual shooting and motives by any involved,” Turner said in a news release.
Police have not released any further information, citing the “evolving” investigation.
