Canton police have arrested three people, one on a felony murder charge, after two people were shot to death this week.

Jeremy Ulysses Zellous, 29, of Marietta, is charged with felony murder, aggravated assault, making false statements and tampering with evidence, police said Friday in a statement.

Police also arrested Brody Samples, 23, of Ball Ground — brother of one of the people killed — on a bond violation out of Pickens County, and Joe Goldback, 35, of Jasper, on a charge of obstructing an officer, according to the statement.

“Additional arrests are imminent in this investigation,” police said.

About 11:20 p.m. Sunday, officers responded to Crisler Street after a report of multiple gunshots, police spokesman Pacer Cordry said at the time.

Police found one person dead in a grassy area near Crisler Street and another person at a house off Jefferson Circle with injuries that were not life-threatening. The third victim was found in a vehicle near the area and died en route to a local hospital, Cordry said.

Police identified the two people killed as William Kendrick Randall, 23, of Canton, and Tony Samples, 26, of Ball Ground.

“We know this was not a random shooting because the individuals involved knew each other,” police said in Friday’s statement.

The shooting occurred after a confrontation involving two opposing groups, according to the statement. More than 70 rounds were fired.

“This is an extremely complex investigation with multiple people involved,” police said. “Detectives continue to work to identify individuals who fired weapons during the incident.”
