A discussion on police conduct at Thursday’s Cobb County Commission meeting devolved into a shouting match between residents.

The meeting was so tense that Commissioner Lisa Cupid left the fray and collasped outside the meeting. Cupid returned to the meeting after being treated by paramedics.

According to Channel 2 Action News, Chairman Tim Lee turned the discussion on a call for a review of the police department into an attack on one of its primary critics, Cupid.

“I am tired of the public accusations and assertions about our police department,” Lee said.

Lee went on to say Cupid is not being constructive in finding solutions to what she believes to be wrong with the department.

As another commissioner tried to cut off Cupid from speaking, the meeting dissolved into a shouting match between citizens.

Cupid left the meeting, but collapsed.

The meeting was in recess as until paramedics finished working on Cupid.

When the meeting resumed, Lee heard from citizens who were unhappy about his behavior in the meeting.

Lee apologized for the tone he used in the meeting.

The proposal to review the Cobb County Police Department passed.

Questions about police where raised by Cupid this summer when she claimed she was profiled by an white undercover police officer.

That same officer was involved in a controversial traffic stop last month, during which the officer told a black motorist, "I don't care about your people. "

Cobb NAACP President Deane Bonner told the Marietta Daily Journal Lee’s actions “absolutely horrible.”

“We as a community, especially the NAACP, have tried to work with Cobb County to make this work, but after today, it’s pure war,” Bonner said. “I don’t know what people think about the NAACP, but you’re going to see a different one now. You will see one that is ready to attack Cobb County government for all of the craziness that we see going on in this county.”
