Slack has reported performance issues most of Monday morning and afternoon, which is likely affecting many companies that are using the workplace communication tool remotely.
The company said users “may be unable to connect to Slack or may be experiencing degraded performance across devices," according to a message on its site. There are issues with such primary functions as logging in, messaging, connection, link previews and posting files.
“We’re sorry for any lagginess. We’re having some issues, but rest assured we’re working to get things back and running as quickly as possible,” according to a statement from Slack on Monday.
At 3:13 p.m. Monday, Slack said it was still investigating the issue.
“The investigation is still ongoing, but the scope has stayed the same. We’ll update you again in a half hour.”
We're still seeing performance issues and apologise for the disruption caused. We will share more news once we have it https://t.co/7hFKxXV7Dd

The issues were first reported about 10 a.m. ET. Online reporting site Downdetector’s live outage map showed significant issues on the East and West coasts of the U.S. and parts of the United Kingdom. According to the site, as many as 1,780 people reported issues Monday morning at one point, but it is likely more widespread than just what’s reported to Downdetector.

Since millions of workers are working from home, Slack has become even more essential for critical and practical communication in companies across the world. The company, which reports about 12 million daily active users, has rivaled Microsoft Teams during the last year, according to CNN Business.
“Our teams are aware and are investigating the issue,” a Slack spokesperson said in a statement to CNN Business. “We know how important it is for people to stay connected and we are working hard to get everyone running as normal. For the latest updates please keep an eye on @slackstatus and status.slack.com.”
Many remote employees and those working in offices shared their grievances with the lagging issues on Twitter.
