A 78-year-old widow was mugged of $700 while visiting the grave of her recently deceased husband in Bethany, Okla. A 15-year-old boy recognized the alleged mugger on TV. It was his father.

The teen, Christian Lunsford, sought out Tona Herndon to apologize for his father’s alleged crime. And he gave Herndon $250 — money his father had given him for a school band trip.

“It needed to be done,” Christian Lunsford told CBS News. “She needed an apology from somebody. If I didn’t apologize, who would?”

Herndon was so touched by the young man’s deed that she accepted the money, then gave it right back to him.

“I thought that was so, so precious,” Herndon told CBS. “Any 15-year-old boy who has that much conscience is extraordinary.”
