Police have arrested a 20-year-old suspect in Monday’s shooting death of a 14-year-old at a Southwest Atlanta apartment.

Souleymane Diallo was to be booked in the Fulton County Jail on charges of second-degree murder of Sonja “Star” Harrison and murder of her unborn child, among other crimes, police said.

The teen was babysitting her three nephews at her sister's apartment when she was hit in the head by a bullet fired from the apartment above.

The girl’s mother, Sonja Denise Harrison, told the AJC Thursday that she couldn’t comment on whether she or her daughter knew the suspect, saying she needed to talk with her attorney.

But she said that Diallo was not the father of her daughter’s baby.

“Folks saying he’s the baby’s father,’’ she said. “He is not the father. He is not the father.”

The youngest of seven children, eighth-grader Sonja Harrison was expecting to deliver a baby girl just before New Year’s Day.

Diallo is also charged with reckless conduct and possession of a firearm during commission of a felony.
