A DeKalb County jail officer was fired and arrested Friday, accused of providing contraband to an inmate, the county’s sheriff’s office said.

Detention officer Elizabeth Ashley Meta Young, 33, was charged with violation of oath of office and two counts of crossing the state/county guard lines, according to spokeswoman Cynthia Williams.

All of the charges are felonies.

A news release said deputies found large amounts of tobacco in Young’s possession while she was on duty. She planned to deliver the contraband to an inmate with whom she had been corresponding, according to warrants.

Young was released on bond.
