The Atlanta Journal-Constitution on Friday asked two business and tourism groups about the impact from this past weekend's gay pride festival. Both groups declined to comment.
Since then, both groups, the Metro Atlanta Chamber of Commerce and the Atlanta Convention and Visitors Bureau, offered a statement on the Atlanta Pride Festival.
William Pate, president of the convention and visitors bureau, said: "Atlanta is consistently rated as a top LGBT travel destination. This reputation is bolstered by major events like Atlanta Pride, which is the largest Pride event in the Southeast and brings positive national attention to Atlanta as the world's most welcoming city."
Hala Moddelmog, president of the chamber, said: "We appreciate the positive impact that the Atlanta Pride Festival and its participants continue to have in showcasing metro Atlanta's high quality of life and diversity. Having thousands of visitors experience what Atlanta has to offer is important in highlighting this region as a great place to live and do business."
