The toddler had been choking, Jennifer Rosenbaum blurted out to the 911 operator. She was giving the 2-year-old CPR.

Then Rosenbaum makes a significant comment, given that she has since been charged with murder and child cruelty in the connection with the death of little Laila Marie Daniel.

"I'm hoping I didn't break her rib, I've been pushing hard," she says. "I don't really know how to do this."

Rosenbaum is a 27-year-old Emory University law student and self-proclaimed candidate for the Henry County commission. Warrants accuse her of causing Laila's death, in part, by hitting her in the abdomen "with such force the child's pancreas was transected." Her husband, Joseph, was charged with two counts of child abuse.

Her defense attorney has said the compressions she employed while performing the Heimlich maneuver and CPR may have damaged the child’s pancreas.
