The Alpharetta City Council recently approved the selection of Heath & Lineback Engineers, Inc. for designs services for the Big Creek Greenway boardwalk replacement.

The $86,000 contract will design the replacement of 1,125 linear feet of existing timber boardwalk. The existing boardwalk provides a connection from the southern side of Mansell Road, at the former Buffalo Wild Wings location, to the Big Creek Greenway.

According to city documents, this section of boardwalk, built in 2008, “has proven problematic to maintain and several sections have either failed or are failing, which has necessitated the closure of the boardwalk.”

The replacement boardwalk will be similar in style to the recent boardwalks constructed as part of the Big Creek Greenway extension from Marconi Drive to Union Hill Park. It will provide a concrete trail surface and metal handrails atop a steel frame.
