The Alpharetta City Council recently approved a new monument sign at 3060 Kimball Bridge Rd. for the Kimball Tech office park. The applicant, Patti Huxford, requested a sign exception to reduce the setback from the road from 10-feet to 2-feet to make the sign easier to see from all directions.

Alpharetta recently installed a roundabout at the intersection of Kimball Bridge Road and Rock Mill Road, which required additional right-of-way from the adjacent properties.

This development consists of two low-rise office buildings. New Prospect Elementary School is to the south, Rock Mill Park to the east, low-rise office buildings to the north and west.

The location of the existing parking lot limits the applicant’s ability to meet the 10-foot setback.

After review and a public hearing, the Alpharetta City Council compromised with the office park by allowing the sign with a 4-foot setback from Kimball Bridge Road.

Additionally, the monument sign must have a brick or stone base and may be backlit or halo-lit. Decorative landscape beds must be added at the base of the monument sign, with final approval by Alpharetta staff.
