The Duluth City Council recently approved a $195,155 contract with Bliss Products for the Taylor Park Playground Replacement Project.

Parks Director Kathy Marelle noted the city received eight qualified bids for the project. She, along with a parks committee, recommended Bliss Product’s proposal based on the value of play for the specified age range (2-12 yrs), the quality of the equipment and the design layout best suited for the downtown area.

Other factors considered included safety/risk management, maintenance (including durability and performance), warranty and insurance, and total project cost.

The project should take approximately three weeks to install depending on the weather.

In a separate action, Duluth is working on plans to develop a synthetic turf area adjacent to Truck and Tap, as well as improved walkways and access points to Taylor Park and the surrounding area.
