Peachtree City is supporting a Fayette County grant application to the Atlanta Regional Commission for local road repaving. The City Council signed off on a resolution of commitment for the project at its Dec. 2 meeting.

The ARC solicited funding proposals for its Transportation Improvement Program earlier this year; the proposed $7 million grant would cover work on roads in unincorporated Fayette County as well as within municipal areas. Of that, Peachtree City is asking for $2.38 million to repave four segments: Huddleston Road from Dividend Drive to Ga. 54; Kelly Drive/Kelly Green from Terrane Ridge to Ga. 74; McIntosh Trail from Peachtree Parkway to Robinson Road; and Ebenezer Road from Robinson Road to the city/county line.

The agreement stipulates that Peachtree City will provide the required local match of up to $1 million in funding if the grant is awarded. The city’s resolution states that the purpose of the resurfacing projects is to “maintain existing corridors within Fayette County that provide essential connectivity on a local and regional level.”
