Everyone wants to live in a “green community,” but it takes more than desire to make it happen. District 7 Commissioner Lorraine Cochran-Johnson will host a town hall for residents to discuss the use of gas leaf blowers in DeKalb County and provide a status report of current sustainability initiatives supported by several county departments to provide an environmentally-friendly and ecologically-responsible community, according to a press release.
The event, “DeKalb County District 7 Road to Green Town Hall” will take place at 6 p.m. on Wednesday, Sept. 29. It will be virtual on Zoom.
“I am aware of the concern of some DeKalb residents regarding gas leaf blowers and DeKalb’s efforts to expand green initiatives and sustainable environments across the county,” said Commissioner Cochran-Johnson. “This town hall will address those concerns, as well as share with attendees the tremendous gains the county has made in this area.”
Presentations will be made by DeKalb County department representatives Andrew Baker (Planning and Sustainability), Tim Hardy (Code Enforcement), Tracy Hutchinson (Sanitation), Robert Gordon (Fleet Management), and Henry G. Kenna (Public Works).
“As we expand our eco-friendly practices to create sustainable communities, we will witness a new DeKalb emerge that will ultimately see cost savings,” said Commissioner Cochran-Johnson. “Everyone should be excited as we share our plans and vision.”
