U.S. Reps. Drew Ferguson, R-West Point, and Sanford Bishop, D-Albany, have each won their respective primaries. So have Reps. Andrew Clyde, R-Athens, and Nikema Williams, D-Atlanta.

All four faced primary opponents who were considered little threat to them advancing to the general election.

Ferguson’s seat in exurban Atlanta and Clyde’s in northeast Georgia are considered solidly Republican, meaning they are all-but-certain to win another term in office in November. Williams’ seat in the heart of Atlanta is a Democratic stronghold, meaning she also is likely to coast to victory during the general election.

Bishop’s seat in southwest Georgia is the state’s only toss-up district. The Republican primary is still unsettled, but the GOP is hoping their candidate can ride a midterm wave of opposition to President Joe Biden and sweep Bishop from office.
