For java lovers, there’s no substitution for a hot cup of coffee, and the desire doesn’t stop at the campground. Sure, you could bring along some instant coffee and pretend like it’s the real thing. Or you can bring along an old-time favorite: the coffee percolator.
Snow Peak’s Stainless Coffee Percolator doesn’t have much flash, but it’s a solid piece of equipment that can last through generations of campers. Made from .7-mm thick 18-8 stainless steel for corrosion resistance and strength, it’s guaranteed not to rust or chip. It’s also easy to use: Just fill the included filter with coffee, fill the percolator body with water and place it over a fire or stove to get it hot. Includes handle for holding and spout for easy pouring.
It makes six cups of coffee at a time_perfect to ensure the whole group is caffeinated. Price is $109.95. Purchase at www.backcountrygear.com.

Bright orange gloves work well for cycling
OK, don’t laugh. I’m serious about this.
I wear bright orange gloves for commuting on my bicycle. First of all, they are well seen by motorists, even when you have your hands on the handlebars.
But they really work effectively when you make hand signals for turning left or right. They’re pretty bright, even in low light.
Mine are just orange work gloves I got at a hardware store for $7. You can find “Hunter Orange” gloves at sporting goods stores.
They are nothing fancy but alerting drivers is pretty important.
I know, it’s a pretty nerdy bicycling tip but I found that they really work.
