No one likes getting pulled over by the police and oftentimes, the situation can be quite overwhelming.

Business Insider staff reached out to the American Civil Liberties Union's Jason Williamson to offer some advice for getting pulled over.

One thing Williamson said is to remember your individual rights. For example, if an officer asks for consent, that probably means he or she doesn’t have enough evidence to search your car.

And Williamson said to always remember to have your license and registration available to hand it over to the police.
