Last week's blink-and-you-missed it sale of the Misty Copeland Barbie doll had both fans of the famed dancer and doll collectors fretting.

"She's beautiful. Too bad she's no longer available(just 45 minutes after she debuted) … " someone posted on The Barbie Collection web site after the doll went on sale for $29.95 for last Monday.

That may or may not have been an exaggeration, but by midweek anyway, the doll — a beautiful, toned likeness of the first African American principal dancer for the prestigious American Ballet Theater — was sold out.

How sold out?

So much so, that resale versions were already being hawked for just shy of $200 on places like eBay and Amazon.

We contacted Mattel, maker of the Barbie line, and they responded with the good news that more Mistys are on the way:

“We’re absolutely thrilled with the excitement around our Misty Copeland Barbie dolls!” Marissa Beck of Mattel wrote in an email. “More dolls will be available to purchase at online U.S. retailers in the next coming weeks.”

Indeed, a quick scan shows Target.com will be taking orders starting on May 19th. And more good news: A Misty Barbie will cost you $29.99 there, not $200.

To stay up to date, Mattel suggests following @barbie and @mistyonpointe on Twitter.
