Inter-spiritual discussion: Jesus' message and parables will be primary discussion points at "Zen Jesus: A Buddhist-Christian Conversation on the Parables & Teachings of Christ." The three-part event, also dubbed "Wine and Wisdom," will begin at 7 p.m. Tuesday, Sept. 30, at Emory Presbyterian Church's Fellowship Hall. The Rev. Tom Buchanan, associate pastor, said, "This is an educational series which you will not often see in churches. We want to give attendees the opportunity to think about matters of faith in the modern world, in a setting that is nonthreatening, nonjudgmental and open to truth from all its sources." Soul celebration: Beginning at 9:30 a.m. Saturday, Oct. 4, a daylong celebration for the 43rd anniversary at Hillside International Truth Center will create a soulful atmosphere. Michael Billups, director of marketing and media for Hillside, said the event "will teach people how to create authentic power by learning how to set the intention of their personality to serve their soul." With a "soul talk" by author Gary Zukav and another coupled with music by Grammy Award-winning artist Jennifer Holliday, the event will epitomize its title, "Soul Saturday."
