For would-be AJC Peachtree Road Race participants who didn't get into the race through the recent lottery, the Atlanta Track Club's transfer system opened Friday. Through the website, peachtreeroadrace.org, runners with numbers who are unable to participate can connect with runners who are trying to get into the race.

There is a $20 transfer fee for the recipient. The transfer system will close May 8. While number holders often sell their numbers through other means, the track club encourages the use of the transfer system to ensure that runners can be properly identified in a medical emergency.

Another possibility for those seeking entry into the race is through a contribution to the track club's Kilometer Kids youth running program. The club is offering 200 numbers for $150 – 117 of which is tax deductible, less the $33 entry fee.
