Midnight, a 1-year-old spayed Shih tzu/Lhasa Apso mix, is a sweet adult dog who was surrendered by a family that was moving. Toy breeds can be more difficult to housebreak than larger breeds, so Midnight will need proper confinement (use of a crate is best) and a patient owner using positive reinforcement to help her. Her previous owners were already using a crate, so she should acclimate pretty quickly. Both breeds in Midnight are generally playful and active, and usually suitable for small spaces. Midnight will need daily walks and training to help her be her best. Her fur is clipped now, but it will grow out and will need frequent brushing (or she should be kept clipped by a professional groomer). If you are looking for a small dog to be your companion, Midnight may be just the ticket. She has lived with children previously (we do not know what ages), but not other dogs. Children in the home can help with daily care, but should not be expected to take full care of any pet without adult supervision. Please research the breeds above, and then bring all children (and any existing dogs) to meet her. Midnight has been microchipped and dewormed. She will be available at 2 p.m. today at the Atlanta Humane Society Howell Mill Campus, 981 Howell Mill Road N.W. Sealed bids will be accepted starting at 10 a.m. if more than one party is interested. Please note that the highest bidder must meet adoption qualifications. Look at all our available pets at www.atlantahumane.org. The Atlanta Humane Society will be closed on Christmas Eve and Christmas Day. It will reopen Dec. 26.
