Last fall, the Beltline announced it would install lights along one of the trail’s most popular stretches. Now, it looks like the lights may finally be switched on soon.

In a Facebook post last Thursday, the Atlanta Beltline said “base foundations” for the lights have been installed every 90 feet along the Eastside Trail’s two-mile stretch from Monroe Drive to Irwin Street.

“Next up: installing the bases. Weather pending, this should get completed in the next few weeks,” the post reads.

Atlanta Beltline, Inc. announced its plan to light the section of the trail and other additional safety measures last October, noting the effort would take six months to complete.

Along with the lights, there will also be security cameras added to the trail.

The upgrades, estimated to cost $1.3 million, are being funded by the Georgia Department of Transportation, city T-SPLOST revenue and private contributions, the AJC has previously reported.

Pedestrians can expect crews to be on the trail between 7 a.m. and 7 p.m. on weekdays.
