While searching for a vacation home at Lake Oconee, Mike and Gail Wilson walked into plenty of older homes requiring remodeling, repainting and removing wallpaper.
"I was not interested in that at all," Gail said. "I was thinking, 'Oh, I'm going to not enjoy this. My time is going to be spent redoing a house, which I had no desire to do.'"
The Newnan couple eventually found a home with no changes needed in Cherokee Point, a Reynolds Plantation neighborhood.

Residents: Mike and Gail Wilson
Location: Reynolds Plantation's Cherokee Point neighborhood, Greensboro
Size: About 5,500 square feet, 4 bedrooms, 4 baths
Year built: 2007
Year bought: August 2012
Architectural style: Southern lake house with Craftsman touches
Favorite architectural feature: Coffered ceilings on the main level
Interior design style: Casual contemporary, using items from Pottery Barn, Weinberger's Furniture at Lake Oconee, and Peachtree City stores Campanile's Home Furnishings and Atlanta Market Finds. "It's not a beach house, and I didn't want that 'lake look,'" Gail said.
Favorite design feature: The color palette, which didn't require any changes and enabled them to quickly move in and enjoy their vacation property. "We have not painted one thing," Gail said. "It is just a miracle that I liked everything in that house. A friend of mine walked in and said, 'This is so you.'"
Favorite outdoor feature: In addition to have a pool and lakefront location, they can travel by boat to Reynolds Plantation amenities, including The Ritz-Carlton Lodge. "It's not even 10 minutes to The Ritz-Carlton by boat. We go over there dock and eat at Gaby's by the Lake," she said.
