Draped in silver and spikes, a wheelchair was transformed into something you'd see on the set of “Game of Thrones.” The creation has been shared all over social media and it's the work of a dedicated mom.

When it comes to dressing up for Halloween, some would view a wheelchair as a constraint, but not so for one Dorchester mom, who sees it as a canvas transforming a simple costume into an entire scene.

E.J. Spellman's 2015 Halloween costume is epic.

"I have PVC pipe underneath to stick it out so it doesn't catch on the wheel," he said.

His mom, Kathy, started dressing up her son's wheelchair 13 years ago after noticing his costumes were being masked by the chair.

"I thought well, let's make the wheelchair part of the costume," she said.

He was a drummer when he was 7, a soldier in a Humvee after 9/11, an excavator and even a magic carpet.

E.J. is 20 years old, but his growth has stopped because he has brittle bone disease and that, coupled with a developmental delay, his communication is limited. But on Halloween, in his costume, his face will say it all.
