Days of frigid temperatures have taken a toll on metro Atlantans, particularly the homeless.

Saint Joseph's Mercy Care Services is collecting donations of  coats, gloves and hats to help the homeless during the extreme cold. So far,  more than 300 blankets have been donated. There is also a great need for cash donations to buy other essential items.

Mercy Care's Community Homeless Outreach Program (CHOP) distributes the donations to those living on the street and under bridges and overpasses. Anyone who needs medical care will be taken to Saint Joseph's Mercy Care Services for help.

Mercy Care Services includes nine outreach clinic across the metro area that serve the homeless and the poor. Donations can be made at Mercy Care Services, 424 Decatur Street.
