Scientists in Queensland, Australia are looking for a way to let you have your beer and drink it too… or something along those lines.

After concluding that dehydration from drinking alcohol contributes to bad hangovers, researchers at Griffith University Menzies Health Institute are working on a beer that restores water to the body instead of removing it.

"The researchers are particularly fascinated by beer because people are able to consume large volumes of it without inducing 'flavour fatigue'," according to a report in ABC.net.au.

"People stop drinking beer not because they get sick of the taste of it, but because they have to be mindful of the consequences, whether they're trying to avoid a hangover or they have to drive a car or they run out of money," Associate Professor Desbrow said.

The research is ongoing, and the scientists are soliciting input from Australians who drink beer regularly.

If you are laughing and thinking it should not be too hard to find Australians who drink regularly, please know that Australians are not the biggest beer drinkers in the world. According to Wikipiedia, they rank No. 11 in the world for beer consumption per capita.
