Now that July is almost upon us, all we can think about is staying indoors, away from the heat, and enjoy our nice air-conditioned living rooms.

But don’t let the sweltering temperatures keep you away from the gorgeous outdoors. Instead, considering making one of these cocktails that will help you stay refreshed by the pool, on the lake or at the beach. One is as simple as sparkling wine with puréed watermelon, while the other is a slightly more complex classic cocktail hailing from Brazil. Both take advantage of two beloved summer fruits.

Sweet Cuvee Watermelon

1 watermelon

1 bottle of Freixenet Sweet Cuvee Cava

Cut 1/4th off the top of a seedless watermelon. Scoop out the fruit and purée. Put 2 tbsp. of the puréed watermelon in a wine glass and top off with the cava.

Pour the remaining purée back in the hollow watermelon to enjoy throughout the day with the cava.

Passionfruit Caipirinha

1/2 of a whole lime

1 tbsp. white sugar

2 oz. cachaça

1 oz. passionfruit purée

Cut lime in half and remove core. Slice lime thinly against the direction of the core. Place sliced lime in a rocks glass and add the sugar.

Muddle lime and sugar together to extract the natural juice of the lime. Fill glass to the brim with ice and add 2 oz. of cachaça and 1 oz of passionfruit puree. Cap glass with bar shaker and shake thoroughly to ensure the sugar dissolves evenly.

Pour back into rocks glass.
