How long they've kept it off: They started in October 2010.
Personal life: "I am the library director at Life University," Susan said.
“I am an accountant in health care and work for a large oncology practice,” Glenn said. They have four grown children, her son and his three daughters. They live in Marietta.
Turning point: "In October, I had a heart procedure to correct an escalating problem that limited my physical activity and my overall quality of life," Susan said. Two weeks after her procedure, she and Glenn started Thrive! weight loss (www.thriveweightloss.com).
“It was becoming more difficult to play golf and walk up the stairs at home,” Glenn said. “I was hitting the 300-pound mark on weight scales.”
Diet plan: A typical day for them begins with eggs and wheat toast. For lunch and dinner they have lean protein such as chicken with vegetables. "Thrive teaches us to eat correct portions and combinations of foods to make the body burn fat while providing good balanced nutrition," Glenn said.
Exercise routine: "I walk a minimum of two miles, five days per week, and I do a cardio swim for 45 minutes, three times per week. I cannot lose weight or keep from gaining weight unless I exercise regularly," Susan said.
“I now work out two to three times a week, which includes 45 minutes on a treadmill and 45 minutes of light weight lifting,” Glenn said.
Biggest challenge: "The biggest challenge was conquering my 35-year addiction to diet soda," Susan said. "I gave up the diet colas and lost eight pounds."
“The most difficult part of Thrive was learning what to eat with what, when to eat it and how much,” Glenn said.
How life has changed: "I have much more energy and am able to do things I have not done in years," Susan said."I have more confidence in my ability to do whatever life throws my way," Glenn said.
